Collaborations
Neurotech has established several research collaborations with
world-renowned investigators in leading research institutes and
universities in the USA and Europe and include the National Eye
Institute, USA, the University of Pennsylvania and the University
of Miami/Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. These collaborations allow
Neurotech to access expertise from leading distinguished scientists
and clinicians who are recognized opinion leaders in either discovery,
research and in vivo models, surgical techniques or clinical development.
Some of these relationships are described below:
The National Eye Institute, Bethesda, MD, committed substantial
resources by assuming investigational responsibility for the initial
clinical evaluation of ECT-mediated delivery of CNTF in patients
with retinitis pigmentosa (Phase I).
Neurotech has also had a long relationship with the Foundation
Fighting Blindness, Baltimore, MD., one of the world’s leading
charitable organizations dedicated to finding cures for diseases
of the eye. The Foundation recognized the potential of ECT as an
intraocular therapeutic drug delivery technology for retinal diseases
and provided critical funding for an initial preclinical proof of
principle study.
Neurotech values these relationships, which provide a continuous,
high quality source of information on new developments in ophthalmology
and provide valuable feedback regarding product design enhancements.
The company will continue to explore the potential to establish
new relationships to strengthen its technology to meet unmet patient
needs in the field of retinal medicine.
